How to Sell on Vinted in the US (2026): Step-by-Step for Beginners

Photographing a clothing item with a phone to sell on Vinted

Here's how to sell on Vinted in the US, from your first listing to your first payout. Vinted charges sellers nothing: the buyer pays a fee and the shipping, and you keep the full price. This guide walks through each step for beginners, explains the current US rules for labels, deadlines and withdrawals as of late 2026, and points out where UK and European advice doesn't apply.

How to sell on Vinted: the short answer

To sell on Vinted, download the app, tap Sell, add up to 20 photos, write a title and description, fill in the category, brand, size and condition, set a price and pick a package size. When it sells, Vinted gives you a prepaid label, you ship within 5 business days, and the money reaches your Vinted balance once the buyer confirms the order or 2 days pass after delivery.

US sellers pay no selling fees. The buyer pays a Vinted fee and the shipping on top of your price, so the price you set is the amount you earn.

How Vinted works in the US (late 2026)

Vinted is a secondhand fashion marketplace that is huge in Europe and the UK. It has been available in the US for years, but it started a major push here in January 2026, beginning in New York, and it's now one of the fastest-growing resale apps in the country. Here is what matters for a US seller right now.

WhatHow it works on Vinted US
Seller feesNone. You keep 100% of your item price. Listing is free.
Buyer feeThe buyer pays a Vinted fee at checkout, usually 5% of the item price + $0.70. It was called the Buyer Protection fee until Vinted updated its US terms on October 8, 2026. The calculation didn't change.
ShippingThe buyer pays. You get a prepaid USPS or UPS label based on the package size you chose.
Shipping deadline5 business days from the purchase, or the order is canceled.
When you get paidThe order completes when the buyer taps "Everything is OK" or 2 days after delivery with no issue reported. Payment moves from pending to available within 2 days.
WithdrawalsTo a US bank account in USD. Up to 5 business days to arrive. The minimum is $0.10.
Who can sellIndividuals selling personal items. The US terms limit use to personal purposes, and there's no Pro (business) seller option in the US.

A $20 dress therefore costs the buyer $21.70 plus shipping, and you receive $20. The full explanation of the Vinted buyer fee covers how it affects what buyers are willing to pay.

How to sell on Vinted for beginners: 8 steps

Here's the whole process from a new account to money in your bank. Your first listing takes about 15 minutes. After a few, it takes five.

1

Create your Vinted account

Download the Vinted app (iOS or Android) or go to vinted.com and sign up with your email, Google or Apple account. Choose a username you're happy for buyers to see, and confirm your email.

Add a profile photo and a one-line bio, for example "Women's sizes S to M, smoke-free home, ships in 1 to 2 days." New accounts have no reviews, and a complete profile makes you look trustworthy. Add your US bank details in the app before your first withdrawal. Vinted's payment provider may ask you to verify your identity, and withdrawals pause until you do, so finish it early.

2

Start your first listing

Tap Sell (the plus button in the app). Vinted's upload screen walks you through photos, title, description, category, brand, size, condition, price and package size, in that order. Start with something easy to sell: a recognizable brand in good condition, in a common size. A quick first sale gets you your first review, and reviews help every listing after it.

Not sure what to list first? What sells on Vinted breaks down the brands and categories that move fastest.

3

Take photos that get the tap

You can add up to 20 photos, and they must be your own. Six to eight is a good target for clothing:

  • Front of the whole item, filling the frame (this is your cover photo)
  • Back of the item
  • Brand label and size tag
  • Fabric or care label
  • A close-up of the fabric or print
  • Every flaw, however small
  • An on-body or styled shot, if you can

Shoot in daylight near a window, on a plain wall, door or floor. The cover photo appears in search and the feed, so it has to be bright, square-on and uncluttered. More photo detail is in how to photograph clothes to sell.

4

Write the title and description

Vinted search matches the words buyers type, so put them in your title: brand, item type, a key detail and size. Skip filler like "cute" or "must have." Vinted's own guidance also says not to add hashtags for unrelated brands.

Title:
Aritzia Wilfred Sweater Dress Ribbed Knit Black Size S

Description:
Aritzia Wilfred ribbed sweater dress in black. Size S, midi length, crew neck.

Measurements flat: pit to pit 17 in, length 44 in.

Wool blend, soft and stretchy. Worn twice, no pilling, stains or holes.

Ships within 1 to 2 business days. Happy to answer questions.

Keep the description short and factual: what it is, measurements, material, condition, and when you ship. Why some items never show in search, and how to fix it, is covered in the Vinted SEO guide.

5

Fill in category, brand, size and condition

These fields matter as much as the title, because Vinted buyers filter by them. Choose the most specific category ("Women > Dresses > Midi dresses" beats "Women > Other"). Pick the brand from the list, or choose "No brand" if there isn't one. Add the size from the tag, plus color and material where asked.

Choose the true condition. Calling a worn item "Very good" when it's really "Good" is the fastest way to a refund request and a bad first review.

6

Set your price

Search Vinted for the same brand and item, then check what similar pieces sold for on other apps such as eBay or Mercari, where sold prices are easier to filter. Vinted buyers are bargain hunters, and they see the Vinted fee and shipping added on top of your price, so price a little below what you'd ask on Poshmark. Because you pay no fees, you can still keep the same money.

Buyers can send offers, so leave a little room, about 10% to 15%, above the lowest price you'd accept. You can also set bundle discounts in your settings so buyers get a discount for buying several items, which works well for basics and kids' clothes. For a deeper method, see how to price items to sell.

7

Choose a package size and ship

When you list, pick a package size that matches the item packed. A T-shirt in a poly mailer is small; a pair of boots in a box is larger. The buyer's shipping price depends on this choice, and the carrier, label type and package size can't be changed after the sale (Vinted would have to cancel and redo the order). When in doubt, pick one size up.

After a sale:

  1. Download the prepaid label from the order in your inbox.
  2. Pack the item, attach the label and drop it off at the carrier the buyer chose.
  3. Use only that label. A different label or shipping method gets the order canceled.
  4. Ship within 5 business days. Within 1 or 2 is better for reviews.

Labels, carriers and package tiers are explained step by step in how Vinted's prepaid shipping label works.

8

Get paid and withdraw

Once the item is delivered, the buyer has 2 days to confirm everything is OK or report a problem. When the order completes, your earnings move from your pending balance to your available balance, which Vinted says happens within 2 days.

From there you can withdraw to your US bank account, which can take up to 5 business days, or leave the money in your balance. Any balance you have is used automatically when you buy on Vinted, so withdraw first if you'd rather keep the cash.

Handling offers, questions and problems

Offers

Buyers can send you an offer below your price, and you can accept, decline or reply with a counter-offer. Decide your lowest price before you list so you can answer quickly. A polite counter ("I can do $18, it's in excellent condition") usually works better than ignoring a low offer, because the buyer has already shown interest.

Questions

Most questions are about fit. Keep a tape measure near where you pack and answer with numbers, not "it fits true to size." If the same question comes up twice, add the answer to the description.

When a buyer reports an issue

Vinted's refund policy covers items that are lost, damaged, significantly not as described or counterfeit. If a buyer opens an issue, reply in the order conversation, stay calm and share the photos you took before packing. Clear listing photos of every flaw are your best defense, because they show the buyer saw the condition before paying.

Under the October 2026 terms, if Vinted flags strong evidence that an item may be counterfeit, you have 48 hours to provide proof of authenticity. Keep receipts, original tags and photos of labels for any designer piece you list, and don't list anything you can't stand behind.

How Vinted differs in the UK and Europe

Most Vinted advice online comes from UK and European sellers, so a few things you read won't apply in the US:

  • Buyer fee in local currency. UK and EU buyers pay a similar fee of a percentage plus a fixed amount in pounds or euros, and the rates vary by country.
  • Pro sellers. The UK and EU have business (Pro) accounts. The US doesn't.
  • Item Verification. The paid authenticity check for designer items is offered in the UK and some EU countries, not in the US at the time of writing.
  • Shipping options. Europe has lockers, parcel shops and many local carriers. US labels are USPS or UPS.
  • Payments. European payouts are moving to Vinted's own payment service, while US payouts still run through Vinted's existing provider to US banks.

When a YouTube video or forum post mentions Evri, InPost, pounds or Item Verification, it's describing Vinted in Europe.

Vinted tips for beginners

  • List several items at once. Buyers who like one item browse your wardrobe, and bundle discounts turn one sale into three.
  • Answer messages quickly. A fast, friendly reply to "does this run small?" often closes the sale.
  • Get your first reviews early. Price your first few listings to sell, ship within a day, and include a short thank-you note.
  • Refresh stale listings. If an item gets views but no likes after two weeks, change the cover photo or lower the price before you think about paying to promote it.
  • Be careful with paid visibility. Bumps and Wardrobe Spotlight cost money, so they eat into the no-fee advantage. Read Vinted Bump vs Wardrobe Spotlight before you pay for either.
  • Stay in the app. Never move a sale to Zelle, PayPal or Cash App, and never use your own label. Both remove your protection.
  • Use holiday mode when you're away, so buyers can't purchase something you can't ship within 5 business days.

Speed up your listings

Writing a good title and description is the slowest part once you have more than a handful of items. Quicklist AI is a Chrome extension that writes the title, description and tags from a few words or a photo, tuned to Vinted's search, and fills them into the listing form. The Vinted AI listing generator has 2 free listings to try with no card, and paid plans start at $2.99 a month. It doesn't crosslist, bump or automate anything on Vinted. The workflow is in the Vinted listing tool guide.

Is Vinted worth it for US sellers?

For everyday clothing, kids' clothes and items under about $30, Vinted is one of the best deals in US resale, because you keep the full price. On Poshmark a $12 top loses $2.95 to fees; on Vinted it loses nothing. The trade-off is that the US buyer base is still smaller than on Poshmark or Depop for some categories, and Vinted buyers expect lower prices.

Many sellers use Vinted alongside one other app. For a side-by-side look, read Vinted vs Depop and Vinted vs Poshmark. If you're clearing out a whole closet and want to see every option, the guide on how to sell clothes online compares nine places to sell.

Frequently asked questions

Is it free to sell on Vinted in the US?

Yes. Vinted charges US sellers no listing or selling fees, so you keep 100% of the item price. The buyer pays a Vinted fee (usually 5% of the price + $0.70) and the shipping at checkout. Paid extras like Bumps are optional.

How do I sell on Vinted for the first time?

Create an account, tap Sell, add photos, write a title with the brand, item and size, fill in the category, brand, size and condition, set a price and choose a package size. Start with an easy-to-sell branded item in good condition to get your first review quickly.

How do I get paid on Vinted?

After delivery, the order completes when the buyer confirms everything is OK or 2 days pass with no issue reported. Your earnings then move to your available Vinted balance within 2 days, and you can withdraw them to a US bank account, which can take up to 5 business days.

Do I need to print a label to ship on Vinted?

Vinted gives you a prepaid USPS or UPS label for the carrier the buyer chose. Most US shipments currently need a printed label, so check the label instructions in your order. Use only that label and ship within 5 business days, or the order may be canceled.

What is the Vinted fee, and is it the same as Buyer Protection?

Yes. In its October 2026 US terms update, Vinted renamed the Buyer Protection fee to the Vinted fee. The buyer pays it, it is usually 5% of the item price plus $0.70, and it doesn't come out of your earnings.

Can I sell on Vinted as a business in the US?

Vinted's US terms limit use to personal purposes, and there's no Pro seller option in the US at the time of writing. It's built for people selling their own clothes. Check the current terms if you plan to resell items you buy.

Why are my Vinted items not selling?

The usual causes are a vague title, empty brand or size fields, a dark cover photo or a price above what similar items sell for. Fix the title and photos first, then adjust the price. Paid Bumps rarely help a listing that buyers can't find in search.
